OVERVIEW
CORE AND SUPPORT SYSTEMS
In terms of systems SDT is structured in a unique way. We have
a 'core' system which is Krav Maga and a number of support systems
that specialize in a particular skill set contained within Krav
Maga, be it ground fighting, weapons, close range empty hand etc.
All SDT students train in Krav Maga but are also exposed to the
skill areas of these other systems. Whether they chose to pursue
in depth training and grade in these other systems is their choice.
SDT provides its students with that opportunity.
The connection with these other systems is 'official' - we are
recognized by the governing body or most senior person in each of
these systems and through us you may obtain, should you wish, training
and ranking in these systems from these authorities. Further, we
can arrange for you to undertake training at the headquarters of
each of these systems either locally and/or overseas.
OPEN DOOR TRAINING
That highlights another unique aspect of our training. We very
deliberately seek to have contact with other schools and systems
in order to broaden our skill base. Specifically we have formed
relationships with systems that contribute to our aim of developing
street self defence skills in the most expedient manner. By placing
ourselves amongst people who specialize in grappling or weapons
or whatever our skills will automatically develop at a much greater
rate than if we simply trained amongst ourselves.
And the people we are linked with are at the top of their respective
areas. Most are internationally recognized and appear on the front
cover of our martial arts magazines:
Eyal Yanilov - Head Instructor
of Krav Maga, Israel
Sigung Tsui Tseung Ting - Wing Chun Grandmaster, China
Master Jim Fung - Wing Chun Master, Australia
Grandmaster Cacoy Canete - Doce Pares Eskrima, Cebu Philippines
Master Vince Palumbo - Head of Doce Pares Australia
John Will - Head of Machado Brazilian Ju Jitsu in Australia
Hoch Hockheim - Head of the Scientific Fighting Congress
USA
To be the best you must train with the best.
By exposing ourselves to outside schools and instructors we receive
a reality check. Our egos take a back seat as we are amongst people
who are generally better than we in that particular specialist skill.
We stay grounded. But we gain far more than if we stayed in the
safe environment of our own school.
We understand that there is a counter view. That such exposure
can lead to a dilution or even impede skill development because
of incompatibilities between systems and approaches. For a beginner
that may be true. They need a basic foundation in something. But
it is our direct experience that for the more advanced, this is
not so. Skills, ability and understanding accelerate far more than
in a single system single school environment.
We stay challenged, and to grow you must be challenged..
